Name what appears
When a child presses a letter, say the letter and the pictured word. Keep the tone conversational rather than testing the child after every press.
Begin with familiar letters
Start with the first letter of the child's name, family names or favourite animals. Familiar meaning makes an abstract symbol easier to remember.
Try a simple search game
- Ask for one letter at a time.
- Give the child time to scan the keyboard.
- Offer a positional hint if needed.
- Celebrate the attempt as well as the correct key.
Repeat without drilling
Return to a few letters across several short sessions. Mix guided prompts with free exploration so learning stays connected to curiosity and play.
